About Us
Interface is a student computing club at Victoria University of Wellington, where a group of like-minded people take some time off interacting with their computers, and interact with each other instead. We have regular meetings on Wednesday nights at 6:00 pm in CO339, and also have the occasional Linux installfest for those who want to use a free alternative to Windows.
We also have an interest in advocacy issues on university IT policy, as well as providing a library of computing resources to members (distribution and recovery disks, various books on languages and systems).
We have occasionally invited speakers to talk on a range of topics. Many members are involved in a range of computing activities outside of the university, and the club is a good way of exchanging information and ideas.
Members can also use SWANS (a wireless network run by the club), and a server run by the club for members to host websites or personal projects.
For more information, see http://interface.org.nz/ or contact the club secretary (Andrew Walbran, qwandor@gmail.com).
FWIW, the blurb on the pamphlet says:
Interface is the VUW computer club. We have weekly social meetings at 6:00 pm every Wednesday evening in CO339.
The club provides computing resources to members, including a wireless network, and access to Linux-based computers on campus. These systems were built and are maintained by members of the club.
Interface runs regular installfests where we can help you install Linux (or other operating systems) on your computer. If you are interested, please contact us. Interface members will be more than happy to assist you.
We provide a forum where students can seek advice on solving problems connecting to the university's wireless network, at http://www.interface.org.nz/wireless/.
