Interface provides a number of free services to other clubs on campus:
Wiki hosting
We can provide a wiki for your club to use as a website, either with your own domain name or with a subdomain like http://yourclub.interface.org.nz/. We use wiki software called MoinMoin, which is very flexible and allows you to:
- Easily edit pages, and keep track of past versions and who made what changes
- Restrict editing of certain pages to certain people
- Attach images and other files to pages
- Choose from a variety of themes, or create your own to match your club's branding
This website is an example.
Mailing list hosting
We can provide your club with one or more mailing lists to use for announcements to members, discussion by members or your executive committee, etc.. We use the Mailman mailing list management software, which is very configurable for a wide range of uses. The main advantages of this over just keeping a list of email addresses on your own computer are that:
- People can join the mailing list themselves by filling in a simple form (if you choose to allow this).
- People can unsubscribe themselves.
- The mailing list is kept in a central location, so multiple people can send to it (if you choose to allow them) without each having to have a copy of everybody's email addresses.
- All messages to the mailing list are archived online.
See http://lists.interface.org.nz/ or MailingLists for an example of the lists we currently have.
Other services
If you need something else (perhaps more general web hosting, a database of your club members, or something else), get in touch with us; there is a fair chance we can help.
For more information about these services and how they could help your club, contact one of the Interface SysAdmins. Also, please read the /Disclaimer.
